Maggie McCoy Griffin, 65, of the 600 block of US Hwy 158, passed away April 15, 2010 at Albemarle Hospital. She was born March 3, 1945 to the late Grace Ann and Ernest L. McCoy in South Mills. She was predeceased by a son, Demetrius Adams; a brother, Leroy McCoy and a sister, Doretha Banks. Maggie was a graduate of NC Central University and was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, South Mills. Maggie was employed for 30 years at EIC Headstart as a dietitian until her health failed. She is survived by her husband, Melvin L. Griffin; two daughters, Beverly Brown and Nakia G. Armstrong; a daughter-in-law, Susie S. Adams; three sisters, Cleo Green, Savonne Griffin (Cedric Jr.) and Bessie Jones (Percel); three brothers, Joseph McCoy Sr. (Bertha), Ernest L. McCoy Jr. and Jerald McCoy; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held 1 p.m., Sunday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 120 W. Berkley Ave., Norfolk, Va. Interment will be at New Burying Ground Cemetery, South Mills.
