CHATHAM — Margaret "Peggy" (Daley) Bladen died March 10 CHATHAM — Margaret "Peggy" (Daley) Bladen died March 10, 2008, at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster. She was the wife of the late Charles K. Bladen, to whom she was married for 57 years.

She was born in Somerville and graduated from Waltham High School. She attended the Prince School and Bryant-Stratton School in Boston, and worked as an assistant buyer for R.H. White in Boston.

Peggy was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the WAVES as a storekeeper second class. She met her husband while stationed at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Davisville, R.I., and moved to Chatham in 1947. She was the bookkeeper for her husband's plumbing and heating business for more than 40 years.

Peggy was on the board of directors and a volunteer with the Nauset Workshop in Orleans. She was also a former member of the Association of Sacred Hearts of Holy Redeemer Parish and a past member of the Chatham Democratic Town Committee. She was a longstanding "club" member for over 50 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework and gardening.

She is survived by a son, Peter G. Bladen of Mount Airy, Md.; a daughter, Bethel B. Norcross of South Chatham; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, from the Nickerson Funeral Home, Crowell Road, Chatham, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church, Chatham. Burial will follow in Peoples Cemetery.
