Marguerite Adelmann Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 11, 2017.
Marguerite (Walsh) Adelmann died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Minneapolis, after a long battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 21, 1951, in Streator, Ill., the second daughter of James Joseph and Patricia (Hagerty) Walsh. She was baptized at Annunciation Church at Eagle. She was a member of the 1970 graduation class at St. Edward Central Catholic High School, Elgin.

In 1969, she married James Batt in Dundee, Ill., and to that union, two sons were born. The family moved to New Prague, Minn., and the couple divorced in 1985. In 1987, she married Joseph Adelmann.

She was a beautician and cosmetologist for nearly 30 years in Minnesota. She loved her work and (literally) made the world a more beautiful place through her work. She enjoyed her Irish heritage and her natural red hair.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, and she participated for many years in the Komen Race for the Cure, American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, and many other breast cancer-related events and activities. Later, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and had stem cell transplants at the Mayo Clinic.

At her 50th birthday party, her many friends and family recognized that she was known by three names, corresponding to roles and times in her life. Her family and childhood and early adulthood friends all called her Peggy. However, her cosmetology associates all called her Marguerite, as she was known in her professional career. Her husband and their close friends called her Maggie.

She was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Adelmann; her mother; two sons, James and Michael Batt; two grandchildren, Rachel Franczyk and Kyle Batt; two sisters, Michelle Walsh and Karen Yuccas; niece, Jamie Yuccas; nephew, John Yuccas; and many other relatives and friends, including her closest friends, Mary Jo Steinmann and Karmen Johnson.

A mass of Christian burial was held on Sunday, Jan. 29, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Bloomington, Minn. Private interment will occur at a later date.
