It is with profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful mother and best friend. On June 28, 2017, at the age of 77, Mary passed away surrounded by love after a valiant battle with cancer. She will be always in the hearts of her family: beloved husband of 45 years, Cherian; daughter Asha (Joe); son Anish (Carly); grandchildren, Samara, Sean, Sasha, Nixon and Nyla. She is loved and will be deeply missed by her large extended family including siblings, Jacob (Chinnamma), Susy (Thampy), Chinnamma (Thomas), Reju (Tessy), Valsa (Raju), Shirley (Aniyan) and numerous nieces and nephews especially Jason (Beetha) and Jessy (Jamie). She was predeceased by her father and mother.
For 36 years, Mary was a very dedicated and compassionate registered nurse at Alberta Hospital (Edmonton). Cherian and Mary loved travelling together and visited several countries throughout the world, most recently and memorable being Russia. Mary will be forever remembered for her devotion to her family, her warmth, and grace.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Chinnamma and Jacob Korah for their outpouring of love, support and amazing cooking during Mary's illness, Rahel from Senior Homecare, the caring staff at the Sturgeon Community Hospital and Cross Cancer Institute, the St. Thomas Knanaya Church, and countless family and friends whose kindness and support have been of tremendous comfort.
A Funeral Service will be held at Westlawn Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. Visitation from 10-11 a.m. Interment and reception to follow at the same location.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations made in memory of Mary Stephen to the Cross Cancer Institute or Sturgeon Community Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
