Maurice Harvey Foisy

I took classes taught by Professor Foisy as a young poli-sci major in the mid-1970s. The man described in his obituary is spot on. Dr. Foisy's curiosity and expansive mind inspired the lucky students who knew him to inquire, study, reflect, assess, and question the accepted norms of our times, and thereby learning to think critically. Dr. Foisy's most important lesson, however, was the fact that he personally lived every day by the principles he strived to imbue in his students of honesty, integrity, fairness, mercy, justice, and equality, even when it runs afoul of the powers that be. They are, and remain, the most important, and sometimes the most challenging, life lessons of all. Thank you, Maurice Foisy.

I was sad to hear of Maury's passing. But I take comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his love Karen, his son and his mom and dad. My sympathies to the family.
