Mavis and I have been friends since 1958. We lived in
Don Mills when my husband was doing Post Graduate work at
the U. of T. We were also members of Donway Baptist Church.
We connected every few years and had wonderful discussions. E-mail was a wonderful contact.
We enjoyed her trips to Nova Scotia when she stayed with us.
Our condolences to the family on the loss of a wonderful
woman who made a difference in the lives of so many people. Her life was well lived.

I love my "Aunt Mavis" deeply. She has been such a wonderful support and encouragement to me for many years via letters, phone calls, emails and visits. It made me chuckle last spring as Aunt Mavis taught my Mom (Doris Lemon) how to text! 2 very incredible women! I was looking forward to seeing Aunt Mavis at Roy Thompson Hall on Dec.14 as I sing from the stage with The Salvation Army choir. I will miss her not being there but I am happy to know she will see how Christmas is celebrated in heaven!! Aunt Mavis was blessed and as a blessing. Kathy Lemon Aitken

Kent, Brenda, Dean, Bruce & Joel.
It is hard to put into words the feelings that I have with the loss of your Mother.
I honestly can say that I have never met such a strong, loving and caring women.
The over powering thought I keep coming back to is that your Mother SAVED all of us.
SAVED us from a dull and boring life. Saved us from darker paths some of us could have gone down. SAVED us from despair and loneliness.
I never heard her say a bad word about anyone. And I never heard her complain.
She always just smiled and said 'Come on in. How you doin'?
I will miss her smile and love of life.
Genuinely, Jim & MC

I knew Mavis through her good friend Laura Shanley. She was a wise loving and caring women full of common sense and strength. Her faith, her family and her church were all important in her life. My condolences to all. May you all find strength and peace in her memory.

I will cherish my times with Mavis, and good friend Kathryn Hatherly, on our bell trips and conventions. Mavis was such a wonderful person and was well loved and appreciated by her bell friends. She will be greatly missed.
