Merrill "Muggs" R. Gouldey

Merrill “Muggs” R. Gouldey, 81, of Harleysville, PA; formerly of Lederach, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at his residence and is now rejoicing in Heaven with his wife.

He was the loving husband of the late Marian (Reinford) Gouldey for 56 years. Merrill was born in Lederach, Pennsylvania to the late Isaiah Gouldey and the late Mae (Radar) Gouldey.

Throughout his working lifetime, he was a gentleman farmer. Merrill worked as a roofer for the former Gamble Brothers in Harleysville, PA, as a self-employed carpenter in the Harleysville/Lederach area, as a maintenance man for Rockhill Mennonite Community in Sellersville and then as a maintenance man for the former Shingle Belting in Norristown, PA, until retiring in 2002. After retiring, he worked part-time as a school crossing guard for Lower Salford Police Department and as a maintenance man for the Harleysville Veterinary Clinic.

Merrill was a member of Line Lexington Mennonite Church. He was a member of the Souderton-Harleysville Game, Fish and Forestry Association in Tylersport, PA, a member of the National Rifle Association, and a former member of the Harleysville Fire Company.

Merrill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his former mountain home in Sullivan County, PA. He was a skilled handyman and could fix anything.

Merrill is survived by a son, Randy M. Gouldey & wife, Denise of Souderton, PA; three sisters, Ethel Bishop of Hatfield, PA, Ruth Wilson of Easton, PA, Gladys France & husband, Joseph of Chalfont, PA; two brothers, Kenneth Gouldey of Harleysville, PA, Wesley Gouldey of Souderton, PA and a sister-in-law, Pat Gouldey of Souderton, PA.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Bishop; two brothers, Curtis Gouldey & Donald Gouldey, Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Erwin "Junie" Bishop & George Wilson; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Gouldey & Marilyn Gouldey.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Line Lexington Mennonite Church, 80 Hilltown Pike; PO Box 217, Line Lexington, Pennsylvania 18932 where friends may meet with the family from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

A private inurnment will take place at Sellersville Cemetery.
