Mike is missed at Sonrise. Despite his struggles, or perhaps because of how bravely he faced them, he was a presence that has left its mark. Kim, may you and your family find the peace you so richly deserve.

I´ve got lots of memories of Mike. He was very instrumental in the beginnings of the Herscher Christian Church, Mike and I finished the roof on the new church building on New Years Eve.

Mike and I hit it off while we worked as assessors for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, heading math tests. Both being Christians math teachers and fathers gave us a bond that has lasted for the past 20 years.

Mike was a member of our Rec Center for a time. His eyes would light up when he saw Kim walk through the door. The love these two shared was witnessed by all.
His faith was evident and his love of the game always helped him. I remember the first time I met him. He was struggling that day. I said Mike- teach me a football play. He went to our whiteboard and told me what every player roles were and showed me plays. He was happy to teach me. He never forgot his love of the game despite his diagnosis.
From all of us at Memory Lane Rec Center, our hearts are with you Kim as you both will always share a special place in our hearts.

Mike Hatfield (Coach) was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who touched so many lives in his time on this earth. His strong Christian beliefs and dedication and service to his church, as well as several Mission trips to Haiti to build homes were an example of what a Godly man he was. We will miss you dear friend and will continue to love and support your beautiful wife!

Mike's death will be felt by many people with whom he impacted. My family had the opportunity to spend time in 2005 on a mission trip to Haiti with Mike and Kim. During that trip, I was made more aware of Mike's passion for mathematics and his willingness to help anyone that asked him for help.
I also appreciated that Mike was passionate about sports and particularly followed the St. Louis Cardinals.
Our loss on earth of Mike's presence, is Christ's gain in heaven. We are grateful for the many conversations we had over the years and pray that Kim and family will be able to experience the peace that only our Lord can provide following Mike's death.

I knew Mike late in life, after he retired to Florida. He was a great and giving person, helpful to others and especially to his church. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, especially of course, wife Kim and their three children. Godspeed, Mike! Harry Miller, The Villages, Florida.

Our sweetest memory of Mike is his arms raised in praise of Jesus each Sunday morning in church. So comforting to know he is now in the presence of Jesus.

Mike was a gift to my life. I so enjoyed the time I spent getting to know him. He had a wonderful smile and loved telling stories especially about his life with Kim and his kids. He is missed. Blessings to you all.
