Michael then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he worked as a professional stuntman while apprenticing as a plasterer. He joined the Plasterers' Union and continued working as a master craftsman in the industry for 51 years. Michael's artistry can be viewed in Florida, Cuba, Cayman Islands, Colorado, Louisiana, New York, Connecticut and Georgia including the Oval Office in the Jimmy Carter Library and The Strand Theater both in Atlanta. Michael enjoyed, sailing, fishing, diving, soccer, chess, horseback riding, cooking, movies, target shooting, music, dancing and spending time with his friends, family and his beloved dogs. Michael Heatley was a hero and an inspiration to all that knew him.

I knew your dad when we were neighbors in New York City. He was a true friend. I am sorry for your loss, but have no doubt he is in the hands of God and watching over everyone he loved.

What a full amazing life Micheal had. We only met him once, but we wish we could have sat around a campfire and heard the stories of his interesting life. May he rest in peace.

Unfortunately I did not have a lot of contact with M.H. in my adult life, but to my benifit it was a privilege and Honor to have been very close to the Heatley family growing up.
Living on the FT Lauderdale strip and having Michael and Boody (Bruster) as my best friends also with my nephew Rod (Rodney) we had an amazing childhood.and Michael made a lasting imoression on me and helped to shape me into the person I am today. He is an incredible man and he always treated me like family. I will always cherish those memories like gold, in the bank. We boys were about 7-8 years old and we would ride and skate over to the job he was on. I found it amazing how he could turn a wall into something that looked like real coral. Or when I would go to Mexican restaurants with Mom Dad and the boys, and Michael would order the best stuff cuz he was real Mexican cowboy. I'm still petrified to this day of the banchee us boys about one night when I was sleeping over, when he told the boys and me the story of the banchee before we went to bed one night. I have a lot of those memories that have glued themselfs to my brain proving he was a very special person or else they would have left my memory long ago. So with great sadness but at the same time great pride to have known the man I will say goodbye for now you are one in a million and we will see ya again someday someway in a new dimension (heaven) where we'll never have to say goodbye again.
With much LUV
