Michael Gerard Mulloy

Dear Mrs. Mulloy and Family,

Mike was my best friend in eighth grade at St. Edwards and introduced me to all of you. What great memories I have of spending the night at your home and playing one on one basketball with Mike at St. Edwards. I feel blessed to have known all of you and to have spent some of the best years of life with Mike.

Thank you Mulloys! Our prayers are with all of you.

The Last Cast

I remember one fall day on Tims Ford Lake. Mike and I had been catching fish all day. It seemed like every time you threw out, you caught one. It was getting late in the day and I gave the dreaded “Last Cast” call to go home. We both made long casts down the bank and started reeling. I acted like I set the hook on a fish and started reeling real hard like I had one. “Mike…get the net!!”. He reels in and scrambles around the boat for the net. He sees me with a sheepish grin and throws the net down mumbling some unprintable remarks. I was having a good laugh when about that time there was a HUGE thud on the end of my line. The drag started peeling off and Mike had that look, “No Cat. You can't fool me twice.” It was then that the biggest smallmouth I had ever seen came busting out of the water with my lure in its mouth! I looked back at Mike and he had already got the net and was standing right next to me, jaw hanging down in disbelief. This fish made several deep dives at the boat. Finally the fish was getting tired and as it came along side the boat and dove down one last time and Mike scooped at it with the net. When he pulled it up, we could both see that the crank bait was hooked on the rim of the net. But we could also see that the fish was hanging by the rim on the outside of the net! That fish shook his head once and came loose and fell back in the water. Mike looked at me, threw the net in the bottom of the boat and said, “That's what you get!”

Frieda and the whole Mulloy family, I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Mike for many years and have some very fond memories of our time together over the years. He loved his family. I remember shopping for Christmas presents with him for his family at Green Hills mall. He wanting to get the right ones for each person especially his mother. I am so sorry for the pain of your loss and I will pray for for your peace.

Freda and the entire Mulloy family - my heart is just breaking for each and every one of you. I just loved Michael and have so many fond memories of him from camping and my trips to Nashville. He will always have a special place in my heart. Please know you are not alone. I will see you all on Sunday.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Mike's loved ones. I am so glad I got to know him in the years of laughter when he had the twinkle in his eye. I know how much he appreciated all of the support of his family and how hard he fought to overcome the challenges of life. God bless.
