Mildred Singer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 16, 2014.
Mrs. Mildred Frances Brown Singer, age 87, of Vandervort Road, Laceyville, Pa., passed away at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock, Pa. on Wednesday morning, May 14, 2014. Mrs. Singer had been a resident of Golden Living Center for the last 5 ½ years.

Born on the Brown Family Farm in Scottsville, Pa., on Oct. 28, 1926 she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ney Brown. Growing up on the farm she loved being able to be outside and loved all animals and wildlife, which carried over into her adult life. Mildred graduated from the Laceyville High School with the class of 1944.

After her graduation, she was married in December of 1944 to Charles B. Singer, who she was married to for over 57 years. Charles preceded Mildred in death when he passed away on March 12, 2002.

For all of those years that she was married, Mildred and Charles owned a farm just outside of Laceyville on Indian Hill. Mildred was a housewife and homemaker for her husband and their two daughters; she also worked side by side with Charles, doing much of the farming chores.

In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, and everything involved with running a farming household. In her later years, she loved to be surrounded by the family and friends. Mildred was a past member of the Indian Hill Birthday Club.

Surviving are her two daughters, Charlene Repsher of Laceyville, Pa. and Connie and David Wood also of Laceyville, Pa.; her four granddaughters, Cindy (Bill) Eberhardt, of Laceyville, Pa., MaryAnn Stevens, and Debbie Taylor both of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Kelly (Keith) Pennay of Laceyville, Pa.; also 10 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son in law, Keith Repsher, who passed away on May 31, 2010; and her brothers, George Brown, Ken Brown and Ralph Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, May 17, 2014 from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville, Pa. with a long time family friend and neighbor, Rev. Mark King, officiating. Interment will be in the North Flat Cemetery in Laceyville, Pa. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday morning at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
