Miriam Jackson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 27 to Oct. 3, 2008.
Miriam Rose (Longstaff) Jackson August 20, 1941 September 26, 2008 Miriam is lovingly remembered by her sweetheart of 46 1/2 years, Ted Jackson; and their daughter, Terri, son-in-law, Greg and her beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Fenty; her brother, Jim Longstaff (Adele); sister-in-law, Donna Pearson; brother-in-law, Bert (Joyce) Jackson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and long time friends. We have many fond memories of our times together during family gatherings, parties with friends and summers at Waskesiu. Though Miriam stayed home to raise Terri and support Ted's business, she was an active volunteer in Saskatoon and Prince Albert National Park. In the early 1980's Miriam's love for business surfaced as she founded Prairie Lily Knitting and Weaving Shop. "The Store " remained her passion until illness prevented her from working in 1995. Though Miriam faced many challenges over the past 13 years, her love for her family never faltered. We will all remember her for her compassion, her determination, and above all, her sense of humor. Our family wishes to express our most sincere gratitude to Dr. Bayly and the staff of the Saskatoon Convalescent Home. Your kindness will always be remembered. A celebration of Miriam's life will be lead by Janet and Rob Brown on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Saskatoon Funeral Home followed by a reception at the W.A. Edwards Centre. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan (279 3rd Ave. N. Saskatoon SK S7K 2H7). Email condolences may be sent to [email protected]. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Saskatoon Funeral Home.

Ted, Jim, Adele, Terri
Just to let you know Miriam is gone but not forgotten. She had an ability to tell it like it is and will always be remembered for her wonderful pioneering spirit. Never scared always willing to try new things.
Jim, I first got to know you and the differences you and Adele have made in the world and now to meet your sister as strong spirited as yourself you must of had special parents to encourage you both to make a difference in the world as you both have done so well.
Ted your dedicated routine and our little chats at every lunch hour will never be forgotten.
just wanted to let you all know my thoughts and prayers continue for you in your loss

Dear Ted and family: My memories of Miriam are filled with fun and laughter. I loved how Miriam ignited my craving for knitting; I was so proud to work with her when she started the Saskatoon Knitting Guild. "The Store" was a place of planning and creating and visiting and sharing.

I pray for peace, love and fond memories be in your hearts as you honour your wife, Mom, Auntie, Grandma, and friend, Miriam.

May God give you comfort now and always.

Love,

Miriam was such a big help to Meewasin when we first opened our gift shop. She brought her experience from the "Friends of the Park' to help us get our shop opened and things ordered. She stayed on as long as she was healthy as a friend of Meewasin and a supporter. I personally enjoyed her love for beautiful things, particularly wool, and still treasure a top she had knitted for me. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

To Jim Longstaff:
I have many fond memories of the gatherings with the Longstaff family back in the "good old days". Miriam was certainly a big part of those happy times.
Sincere sympathies,
