Nancy HAGAN Obituary
October 14, 1932 - August 12, 2013
Passed away peacefully at the age of 80. Nancy Ruth (Steedsman) Hagan. Beloved wife of her devoted husband, Don for 55 years. Much loved by her daughters Brenda (Kendall) and Linda. Loving grandmother to Zoë and Morgan. Predeceased by her brothers Gerald (Rita) of Lac La Biche, AB and Jack (Denise) of Morden MB. Aunt, Great- Aunt and Great-Great-Aunt to many nieces and nephews in Western Canada. Nancy grew up in Deloraine, Manitoba, as she made everyone she was in contact with aware. She graduated from the nursing program at Winnipeg General before moving to Ottawa where she met the love of her life, Don. It was his love of pecan pie and her amazing pie making abilities that sealed the deal!! Nancy was an avid volunteer throughout her life and was very involved in her community. She was among the founding members who fundraised for and built Parkway House in the 1970s. She also volunteered at Harmony House, Canadian Blood Services and the Ontario Breast Screening program among others. Nancy was a good friend and companion to a very wide circle of friends, who will also miss her dearly. She is now finally at peace and no longer in pain, for which we are grateful. She lived a long and full life and leaves this world as a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. No service at her request. Visitation will be at Tubman Funeral Homes Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road on Friday, August 16th from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Parkway House or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Nancy was a very kind person and always nice to talk with here in the park. She'll be missed dearly but not forgotten as her spirit lives on in our hearts at Glenalee Park, in White Lake.

Linda, Don, Brenda, Zoe and Morgan, With a sad and heavy heart I write these words of condolences. I am so sorry for the great loss of "Mama Hagan"! She was truly an amazing person who touched my life (and countless others). From the first moment when I spilled yellow paint on Linda's childhood rug to our adult talks and hugs she has left a permanent impression on my heart and I will never forget her and the incredible woman she was! I was saddened to hear of Nancy's passing. There are not enough words to describe what she not only meant to me but to the family at Parkway House. She was a lifeline to me many times as well as the guardian angel to so many residents over the years. I am sure she will continue to shine her light on all her family and friends. Mr. Hagan, Brenda, Linda.
It is with a heavy heart that I type these words, but it intermittently seems to lighten when the fond memories of Nancy emerge. She always had a smile and a quick wit - even though her pool ended up being the unauthorized temporary holding tank of most of our wayward tennis balls. I spoke with her about 4 months ago and she was still first out of the gate with a "wise crack" - something I always appreciated about her. We will all miss her - but she's left a huge collage of wonderful memories to give us strength. Sincerely, Doug Mousseau

It is with great sorrow hearing Nancy has passed away. I have great memories growing up in the neighbourhood, whether it was swimming in their pool, or cutting my parents lawn just when they were sitting down to have dinner outside on their patio. Nancy was a very special person, always had a smile and asking how my family was. May your memories of her help you through these difficult times.
