My condolences to the Hansen family on the loss of this kind and unassuming gentleman. He was my drama teacher and the director of plays I participated in at KHS in the early 70s. I have very fond memories of him and feel blessed to have known him.

Mr. Hansen taught me Driver's Education at KHS in 1969. He was a very entertaining instructor,...and talk about patience. He was so patient with the Driver's Ed. students. I remember one girl in our car broke down crying the first time she sat behind the wheel. Mr. Hansen consoled her and gave her the confidence she needed. And then she drove.
Mr. Hansen is greatly missed. My consolation to his family.

Nolan Hansen or Papi as us grandchildren called him was an awesome granpa! He would help me with my math homework and he even helped me get into advanced math. He also made it a priority to see how my day was everyday i saw him. I miss him greatly but know that he is in a better place doing as many crossword puzzles as he can.

R.I.P. Mr. Hansen. I was in some plays he directed at Kirkwood High School. He was always so easygoing and kindhearted.

Popocatepetl volcano in Mexico. I remember Nolan liked this view a lot.

Nolan was a wonderful uncle. He visited his Mexican family in DF and Cuernavaca very often. As kids, he picked us up from school, and it was great to have him there, speaking his perfect Spanish with a strong and endearing gringo accent, asking to know as much as he could from his Mexican nieces. He spent long hours talking about history and politics with my grandmother and enjoyed being a tourist in our city with our Mother. We remember he even experienced the 85 earthquake with humour and calm.

We believe that it were his recurrent visits to Mexico what helped us to remain in touch with Cherry, Patricia, Christina and the kids in Texas. We will thank him forever for keeping family close.

His curiosity and love for our country was inspiring. He remains in our thoughts forever.

Nolan was a wonderful father in-law; everyone should be so lucky to have one like him. But he was also a great ex-father in-law, which I think speaks volumes about his character and nature, and why he will be missed so much.
