NORA BEESON

Jack's autobiography, published by Mellen Press, was a model for mine: CONTINUATOR:
The Autobiography of a Cosmopolitan, Socially-Conscious Composer, which Dorrance Press will publish this summer.

We miss her very much, as we now do my father, Nat Lehrman, who co-signed the message with me about her last year, and who passed away, age 96, on Jan. 19, 2020. In going through his books, we found annotated and signed copies of works from the 1940s & '50s by and about Nora's father, reminding us again of how close our families were. Very much looking forward to attending and being a part of the celebration of Jack's centennial next year.

So sad to learn of the passing of Nora, our dear friend in so many ways, on so many levels. We miss her, as we do her close friend Emily R. Lehrman, who helped her get through Roman Jakobson's course at Columbia, and was in turn helped to find work translating for Abrams. Jack too was a dear friend and mentor, and we look forward to the celebration of his centennial in 2021.
