I was good friends with Norman’s niece Valerie, and so I met him once, in Elizabeth NJ. Norman asked me whom I preferred, Jackson Pollack or Willem de Kooning. I said Pollack. It was the right answer, and Norman and I were on the same page for the hour or so of our acquaintance.

Uncle Norman, my mother Leonore’s brother, never forgotten. You gave me my first camera, a Polaroid Swinger, when I was seven years old. That started my Love of Photography, that continues to this day. — Valerie

We were so blessed to have spent time with Norman in D.C. with Andrea and family (2010) and again in May (2011) at our home in western Nebraska for our youngest daughter's graduation from high school. He was a jewel. Truly. The Abbott family will miss him greatly. Our thoughts and sympathy, Steven and Clarissa.
