In two days, Norm passed away a year ago. Almost everyday, I walk by his house and hope that he is having a grand time in heaven with his wife, Anita. He is lucky that he no longer needs to shovel snow in his driveway. But I miss his smile and stories.

Dear Anita, Gary, Jason and Eric,
So sad to hear of Norm's passing, he was a great guy!
He actually taught me with great patience how to ski at Blandford Ski Club. So many wonderful times shared there.

Norm was a great neighbor, who often told me how to improve my front lawn. Smiles. My wife and I shall miss this friendly man, who told his life stories and listened to ours. Best wishes to Anita.

Anita, Gary, Phillip, Janet and the entire VanTassel family, we were very saddened to hear of "Uncle" Norman´s passing.
A gentler, more loving man would be hard to find. He was "one of the really good guys" and will be sorely missed by many.
Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers at this time and beyond.

Dear Gary

Sory to hear about Norm's passing. A class act and one of the first I got to knew when I joined LCC. Had many good rounds and times with him. He will be missed.

It was sad to hear of Norman's"poppy" passing. He was a great man with tons of knowledge. He will certainly be missed by me and Evan and Spencer, who adored their great grandfather.

Dear Anita, Gary, and Family:
We were deeply saddened to learn of Norm´s passing. Recent months have not treated him well. Regardless, it is difficult to lose a spouse, parent, and friend as wonderful as was Norm. We first met when he graciously hired me to be a claims adjuster at Spfld. Fire & Marine Ins. Co. in 1959, when I was in night law school at WNEC, and direly needed the position. Years later, at Baystate West, BayBank, Blandford, or LCC, he would say to me that he had "put me on the road to success". I should have asked him to define "success." Norm was a unique person who had a unique life. He was blessed with a smile which he put to good use; an interesting conversationalist; and a humble person, the greatest of virtues. He and you are in our prayers. Recall the good times, of which there were many.
Love, Bill and Pat Fitzgerald

Norman and Anita were dear friends of my parents, George and Eleanor Nolan, and I have such fond memories of the four of them skiing, golfing, and just generally enjoying life and each others' company. Norman was a good man, kind, warm, and funny. I cherished his wink and the smell of his pipe. If anyone deserved a long and happy life, it was Norm. My deep condolences to Anita, Janet, and Gary on your loss.

I met Norman in 1981 as a nominee for membership at the Longmeadow Country club. Norman was a member of the Board back then and I had to attend a luncheon so the board could later vote on my membership request. After the meeting, Norman took me aside and assured me of a positive vote. We have been friends ever since. Norman was a great human being and always a pleasure to be with. I trust he will continue his daily walks and rounds of golf in heaven. God bless you Norman.

I knew Norman as a member of LCC, and have never met such an accomplished, fair and upstanding man as him! He was well before his time in fairness and humanitarianism! A true loss to his family and community. Every encounter that I had with his was productive, and one left with the feeling that he had a vivid understanding of you as a human being and individual!! He brought the best out in everyone!!!

Even though I only had the privilege of knowing Norman for a few years, his smile, and inviting personality, drew you in. A truly caring soul. He will not be forgotten. A good man, A good life.
