Otis Davis COLUMBIA, SC - Funeral services for Mr. Otis Davis will be conducted 1:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Mozell Tompkins Memorial Chapel, Columbia, SC. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. He died on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Davis, the son of Jace and Annie Davis, was born September 20, 1931 in Norway, SC. He attended the public schools in Orangeburg County and worked at Richtex Brick Company in Columbia for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of Holy Ghost Station Church of Jesus Christ, Apostolic where he served as a Trustee and any other capacity needed. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deborah Goodwin; grandson, James Goodwin; and two brothers. Survivors are: his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Evelyn Kennerly Davis; one son, Bishop Otis, II (Hattie) Davis of Florence, SC; one daughter, Althea Jennings of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Annie (Charles) Prophet of Columbia, SC and Emma (James) Reed of Norway, SC; brother, Jace Davis, Jr. of Hollywood, FL; son-in-law, Daniel Goodwin of Gadsden, SC; sisters-in-law, Carrie Lou Davis of Norway, SC and Janet Seals of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
