Reva M. Tompkins Waddell

Reva M. Tompkins Waddell, 90, of Town of Niagara, entered into rest on Friday, October 10, 2008 in Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital.Born in Niagara Falls on May 26, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Anna Agnes Murphy Tompkins and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.On January 30, 1941 our wise and witty mother married our father, James H. Waddell. Mr. Waddell predeceased her on September 30, 1993.Mrs. Waddell was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved making sweater sets and afghans for all the new born babies. Her world centered lovingly around her family, especially her handicapped daughter, Maureen, whom she devoted 50 years of gentle and loving care. She loved her old time musicals.She is survived by her four children, Shirley (late Donald) Evert of Lewiston, Carol (late Gerald) Kallin and Maureen R. Waddell, both of Town of Niagara and James H. (Michelle) Waddell, Jr. of Grand Junction, CO. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Lori Winn and John Winn of Niagara Falls, David J. (fiance' Rebekah Brydges) Kallin of Town of Niagara, Michael and Melody Waddell of Grand Junction, CO; three great- grandchildren, Samantha Zellonis of Lewiston, Daniel and Andrew Boyer, both of Niagara Falls; six sisters, Doris (late Gerald) Berthot, Grace (late Frederick) Thompson and Ann (Richard) Wood, all of Lewiston, Arlene (late Frank) (Pullano) Smiedala and Joan (late John) Morgan, both of Niagara Falls and Patricia (Frank) Phillips of Town of Niagara; two brothers, Kenneth (Charlotte) Tompkins of Lewiston and Robert (Sharon) Tompkins of Sarasota, FL and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. In addition to he parents and husband, James, she was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Joanne M. Zellonis; her brother, Melvin F. Tompkins and her sister, Karolyn R. Tompkins. Our beloved mother has left us with love and a ton of witty sayings. Her wisdom and faith were unmatchable and her greatest saying was “God gave it to you…Deal with it and put it behind you.”The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Monday in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 AM.
