Hi Gwynn. It´s Brady. I´m so sad to hear that Rex passed away. I know that cancer is a terrible disease. That´s what my mom, Fern, died of at only 58 years old back in 2014. My dad, Bob, died 2 years later in 2016, at 83 years old. I´ll always remember my dad & Rex being wonderful friends when Ronald Reagan was both Governor & President. & I´ll always remember my mom, dad, & I coming to your 4th Of July parties back in the 90´s. My parents & I were living in San Francisco at the time. I currently live in Redding. Rex was such a wonderful person & a great friend.

I was Rex Hime's paperboy when he lived at the King's Way apartments in Sacramento. I only saw him a few times when I would collect payment for the newspaper delivery, and though it was nearly 50 years ago, I can still remember Mr. Hime's exceptionally friendly personality. I remember observing pictures and figurines of elephants in his living room, but it wasn't until a few years later that I knew he was actually a politician. "Rex Hime For Congress" campaign signs were popping up all around the neighborhood. I'm glad Mr. Hime had a long successful career in politics and community service, and that we both had something in common being Republicans. Thank you for your service Mr. Hime. Rest in peace.

Rex and I worked for the Independent Journal as newspaper boys in Terra Linda. We had great conversations while folding our papers. He liked to ridicule my parochial school's insistence of the authority of the Catholic Church due to the apostolic succession of bishops. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great laugh.

My husband Sergio Zilli knew Rex from political activities when they were both involved with the Ronald Reagan Governor’s office. Serge told me how intelligent and sharp Rex was and how he advised the Reagan staff re: governmental affairs.

We invited Rex to our wedding in 1975 when I met him for the first time. In that short acquaintance I saw what Serge saw in Rex - a fun-filled, kind, bright and joyful man who shared in our happiness that eventful day.

What I find incredible and inspirational is that every year since 1975, we have received a wedding anniversary card from Rex on the very day of our anniversary. So for the past 48 years, Rex continued to show his love, caring, and generous heart. Our regret is that he cannot be here for Rex Hime Jr.’s wedding in September when he marries Serge’s grand niece Rachel. We were both so looking forward to seeing him again.

His last anniversary card received this past November said. “Looks like we will be family now.” We love you Rex and thank you so much for your thoughtful cards that reveal your beautiful heart and soul. God bless you and your family.

Rex was my friend and colleague for over 30 years. We were often on the front lines lobbying at the Capitol together when I was with the Realtors, and then I was a member of his CBPA Board when I worked for Tejon Ranch Company. I have so many great work memories, but the even better stuff is the more more personal side. We had a bowling team called the Business Jackals that couldn't be beat! We had our photo taken with numerous stars at the State Fair, including the Village People, Pointer Sisters and even Sammy Hagar! We enjoyed Rex's beautiful wedding to Gwyn at Hime Lake, and also many Fourth of July celebrations. Rex loved America, and he also loved people. He made all of us feel special. I will miss you greatly, Rex!

Like everyone, I was shocked when I learned of his passing. Whenever I think of Rex, his smiling face immediately comes to mind...and instantly brings a smile on mine. Rex was great at his work. He was even greater as a human being. I'll always miss him and his smile.

I had the pleasure of working with Rex through BOMACal and he did light up a room with his style and his smile. He was one of the smartest, passionate real estate and lobbying professionals of our time. We have lost a legend and a great man. May you rest in peace Rex.

Rex was always one to be admired for his very successful work ethic, his seeing what was going to be needed in the future, how he nurtured his many business and friend relationships and he always had time to make you feel like you were the only one in the room. I was involved in the setup of BOMA California 30+ years ago and the great partnership with Rex and his CBPA team. The fact that he will be missed is an understatement.

I am deeply saddened by this news. Rex made me feel comfortable from day one as the IE embarked on the journey of becoming involved in
BOMA Cal. He was kind, funny, and light-hearted. You knew he was a God fearing man and his light shined brightly. He was always supportive, informative, and we never had to doubt he was looking out for our best interest. He will be greatly missed; His passion and love of people will always be remembered by those fortunate enough to have met him. Blessings and prayers go out to his wife, sons, family, and friends. The angels are rejoicing and I look forward to seeing you in heaven.

Rex was truly a game changer; he made things happen. He was an absolute GIANT in his tireless advocacy for the commercial property industry. Rex brought honesty and humor to any gathering. More humble than he needed to be, he was someone people loved to work with. It was a good feeling to be on Rex's team. What a wonderful man to be priveledged to know, learn from, and work with. Missing you, buddy ---you definitely made your mark in this world and set an example for others to emulate. Truly one of a kind!

I worked on Rex‘s run for Congress which I believe was in 1978. He was not successful but would’ve been a great representative for the Sacramento area.

Rex was a very special person. A hard worker, who loved his wife and two boys, and always did the absolute best for his clients with integrity and a keen sense of humor. While we were sometimes on different sides of issues, I always could count on him as a friend of 30 years. Aloha, my friend. My condolences to the Hime family.
