Rick was a good friend and a proud cowboy action shooter. He is sadly missed by all the club members.

Dear Linda, Alden and Sarah, Just now found out about Rick's passing into the next great phase of his life. Know that you all have been and continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. The pictures of your husband and dad touched my heart. I remember the "old" days when the kids were little and roaming on Walter Road. Where does time go? May you all find peace.

Rick became my brother so many years ago by marrying my sister, Linda. I have loved him dearly and treasured him as a member of our family for 42 years. He loved Linda and his children well, and I would have relished seeing him hold sweet Ewan. He was a hard worker, and he possessed multiple talents. I'll not forget his infectious smile. He will be greatly missed. I'm so very sorry that I'm out of country and cannot be with my precious family in this difficult time.

Remembering the witty conversations Rick, Linda, and I shared on the few occasions that I had the pleasure of spending time with him. He had a way of making others feel appreciated . . . just for who they are! Praying for Linda, Sarah, and Alden - may God's love fill your hearts and ease your sorrow. May the peace of God be with you as He blesses you with many happy memories.

I went to school (Bernard Terrace through Baton Rouge High School) with Rick. I was sorry to read in The Advocate of his passing. Know that your family is being remembered at this time.

I miss my Dad dearly. He was a great father who would do anything for his family. He adored my mother. A quirky man with a unique sense of humor that I have inherited though I denied it for years. Love him so much.

Our family has been enriched to have Rick's presence in our lives for quite a number of years. Always friendly, Rick possessed a stimulating intelligence, and with a pleasant and smooth voice that had a slight touch of southern accent, Rick was always an attractive partner for conversation. Rick was also a loyal friend. Fortunate for me, Rick and I shared some common interests, whether it had to do with cars, music, or how quickly our daughters (who are close friends) were growing up. I lost my Dad when I was 11 years old, and this gives me some perspective. To Rick's family I would say "He did his job." With his wonderful life's partner, a fine family was raised up the right way and launched into the world with all the necessary preparation. Good Job! I'm so happy I had the chance to say this exact thing to Rick during his last days. Rick remained sharp to the end, and I believe he died a contented man, as one would expect for being surrounded by the fruits of his life's journey - those who loved him so. The Zebrick family will sorely miss Richard McEwen.
