NEW BEDFORD - Robert Henri Soucy, 72, left St. Luke's Hospital on February 12, 2010, for his heavenly home. He was the husband of Marjorie (Lackie) Soucy.

Born to Leopold and Lucille (Caouette) Soucy, he lived most of his life in New Bedford. Upon graduation from St. Anthony's High School in 1955, he served in the Air Force, stationed in Germany.

He was employed by Staylastic - Smith Inc., where he met his wife Marjorie to whom he was married for 40 years. He retired from Bank Boston, Hyannis Branch in 1999.

He greatly enjoyed playing the game of golf, especially with his sons. He loved to read and study the Bible and led Bible study groups for several years.

He was a 49ers football fan, as well as NASCAR. He watched religious programming and news. In his younger years, he played a good game of tennis.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Gardner Soucy and Brian Robert Soucy, Brian's companion Sarah Smith; two sisters-in-law, Lois Lackie of New Bedford, and Anna Soucy of Port Charlotte, Florida; three aunts, Marion Soucy of Scituate, Irene Soucy of Florida, and Lou Hardy of Fairhaven; a niece, Julie Lloyd and her husband, Tom and family of Port Charlotte; a nephew and godson, Michael Soucy, his wife Annette and family of New Jersey; and cousins.

He was the brother of the late Leopold (Paul) Soucy Jr.

He loved the Lord, his family, and his country.

His funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00AM in the Donaghy - Hathaway Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Wednesday from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
