Robert W. Wood, "Woody", a 30-year resident of Warwick, formerly of Tottenville, NY, died peacefully on May 7, 2009 at home. He was 66.

Born June 5, 1942 in Tottenville, NY, he was the son of John and Margaret Wood, who predeceased him.

He was a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion, Post 214, Warwick. He retired as a Test Desk Technician with Verizon, NYC, and was a member of St. Stephen's R.C. Church, Warwick.

A family statement reads: "He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend to all."

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Florence Wood (Murphy); his sons: Robert S. Wood and his wife, Lorraine of Warwick, Douglas Wood and his wife, Amy of Florida, NY, Capt. Brian B. Wood and his wife, Lt. Racheal of the U.S. Army in Ft. Bragg, NC; his daughter, Jennifer N. Caldwell and her husband, Stephen of Florida, NY; seven grandchildren: Melissa, Devin, Logan, Allison, Kailyn, Tyler and Aiden; two brothers, John R. Wood and his wife, Margaret, and Michael J. Wood and his wife, Gail, both of the state of Florida; sister, Patricia Babin and her husband, Frank of Warwick; and longtime friend and buddy, Hugh F. Johnston.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 12, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at St. Stephen's R.C. Church, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
