Robert Leonard Zeese, age 84 years, of Elroy, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008 at his Residence in Elroy, Wisconsin. He was born on July 29, 1923 to Lenard and Dorothy (Weiss) Zeese in Michigan City, Indiana. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 during World War II serving in Central Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He earned 2 Overseas Medals, Campaign Medals, 3 Bronze Battle Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Robert was united in marriage to Florence Hules on June 7, 1947 at Faith Lutheran Church in Cicero, Illinois. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. He worked 26 years for the Western Electric Company in Cicero, Illinois. They lived in Michigan City, Indiana, Stickney, Illinois, following retirement lived in Hollywood, Florida, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and Elroy. He enjoyed home remodeling, woodworking and Bingo, also worked as a Wal-Mart greeter until the age of 82. Robert was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9496 and the Telephone Pioneers of America, serving as Chapter President in Hollywood Florida from 1985 to 1986. Survivors include his wife, Florence of Elroy; three children, Robert (Cynthia) Zeese of Milwaukee, Randall Zeese of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and Deborah (John) Weber of Elroy; five grandchildren, Matthew Weber (fiance Michele Picard) of Tomah, Patrick (Sarah) Weber of Baraboo, Daniel (Robin) Weber of Camp Douglas, Stacy (Brandon) Macomber of Portage, and Sara Weber (friend Jay Fitch) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; nine Great Grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Violet Zeese of Crown Point, Indiana and Dolores Manfredini of North Riverside, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his Parents and a brother, Richard Zeese. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy, Wisconsin, with Rev. Conrad Prell officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Elroy City Cemetery. My father was my hero in so many ways, and he will truly be missed. His generosity, helpful nature, humor, loyalty to family and friends and work ethic will long be remembered and will serve as his legacy.
