To Ruthie's family:

I am shocked and saddened to read of your wife and mother's passing. We were friends at Wheaton College, living on the same floor our freshman year. I see her face and fabulous smile after all these years. Her high energy and fun-loving antics endeared her to all. And it seems she left this world a much better place with her many accomplishments.

May you find comfort and courage as you grieve.

I was stunned and saddened to read of Ruthie's passing. We were roommates sophomore year at Wheaton. I can picture her expressive hands, infectious smile, outrageous ideas and excitement. She looks the same in pictures after all these years. We celebrate her too-short life and send great sympathy to the immediate and extended family. Fondly,

Dear Lee and family,
My heart is sad and heavy for the loss of your wife and mom. Although I have not seen Ruthie in many years she was thought of and prayed for often especially in this last year. Our mothers were sisters and Aunt Lilly often prayed for Ruth as well as for her siblings. Ruth accomplished a lot in her short years here and know she will be missed greatly. I remember her as bubbly and happy with a beautiful dimpled smile! You were blessed to have a wonderful wife and mother.
Love and prayers, Jan (and Jim) Callaway

Dear Lee and family:

Our sincerest condolences to you and the family in the loss of your wife, and my ever sweet cousin, Ruthie. Growing up with the Cole kids was always memorable and so much fun, esp, the summer of 58 (?) in New York City. We grieve with you and pray for the peace of Christ to be your comfort. Ruthie lives in our hearts and now with the Lord and her Mom and Dad. She will be greatly missed and always loved. Her daughter's share my Mother's name, Lilly, and her mother's name, Hannah. Even in my own family and my sister Jan's family her mother and my mother's names continue on from generation to generation.

God bless and keep now & always,

My parents were entrusted to care for Ruthie when she was only 7 mos. old until her 2nd birthday.I can still remember how somber our home was when she moved to New Rochelle, NY with her family.

Ruthie and I shared a room together and it was such a delight to have a little one in our home.

We reconnected in Ocean City, NJ in '07 and I remember Ruthie had so many questions about her time with us.I loved being with her that day and it was wonderful to meet Lee and her daughters.

We will continue to uphold your family in prayer, Love, Ruth Ward

To the Cole-Chu family - It was my privilage to have worked with Ruth years ago on several committees connected to the East Lyme/Salem education systems. I remember Ruth as a warm, genuine, passionate and professional person. Although Ruth's loss to our community is great, I am sure her loss to her family is greater. Please accept my sincere condolences to you all.

Dear Lee and family,

I knew Ruth primarily through a mutual friend, Bud Church, who was a fellow member of the Connecticut College education faculty. Ruth and Bud were two of the most passionate and committed educators I have ever worked with. Countless children are their beneficiaries. Please accept my deepest sympathy on this untimely loss.

Lee and girls-My deepest condolences go out to you. Ruth was a dear friend during and after our college days in Wheaton. I have many wonderful memories of her. Even now, I see some of Ruth's qualities reflected in her youngest sister, Pam, who must have been impacted greatly during that time, and beyond. I know she will be missed, but, her memory lives on!

Lee, Emily, Hannah and Lily: our thoughts are with you and our deepist sympathies. Your family and our community were robbed by the loss of someone so vital to all of us. She made a wonderful and meaningful contribution to the community and still found the time to be a wonderful mother . I can't imagine how she managed to find the time to accomplish all that she did. Lee, Emily, Hannah, and Lily,
I am so proud to call each of you family and so very thankful to God for the many blessings I received over the years by being a part of your extended family. Ruthie's infectious personality lifted my spirits each time we were together. I am thankful to God for His giving me the opportunity to be a part of your lives as a brother-in-law and Uncle these last 23 years. Memories of Ruthie will soften the pain of our loss for now, but I look forward to seeing her again on a family reunion in heaven.

Emily and her sisters were so fortunate to have Ruth as their mother. Emily was such a wonderful student and leader when I worked with her at The Ethel Walker School and I know it was because of her mother's devotion and guidance. My thoughts are with Lee, Emily and her sisters, Paula and the rest of the family.
