Sandra Thurman Obituary
59, of Louisville went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, surrounded by her family. Sandy was born on March 30, 1955 in Louisville to George Edward Ritter and Jewel Ritter Sanders.
Sandy was a member of Highland Park First Baptist Church.
Sandy was very caring and giving to others, especially her family, as she was the most unselfish person.
Sandy loved spending time with her grandchildren, square dancing and traveling with her fiancé, Steve, going to Gatlinburg many times. Sandy always had a good time, and could be recognized by her contagious laugh.
Sandy is preceded in death by her father, George Sanders.
Sandy has left to cherish her memory, her loving companion, Steve Garvey; sons, Gary Thurman (Melissa) and Tim Thurman (Tiffany); mother, Jewel Sanders (Earl); sisters, Kim Bobsin (Andy) and Brenda Nash (Dennis); children of Steve Garvey, Dana Garvey, Shelly Ball (Shane), and Stephanie Chahalis (Mitchell); step siblings, Deanne, Danny, Kathy, and Kerry; grandchildren, Jenna, Drew, and Jake Thurman; step-grandchildren, Joey and Jada; many loving nieces and nephews; and special friends, Paul Pruitt, Tommy Bryant, and Robin Richardson.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Sandy at noon on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel. Entombment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation for the public will be from 12-8pm on Thursday and from 10am-noon Friday.
Memorial donations in honor of Sandy can be directed to James Graham Brown Cancer Center, envelopes provided at the funeral home.
A special thank you to Dr. Padimini Moffett and Jamie Messers for the care of Sandy.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. Sandy was always so kind and always had a smile on her face. It has been many years since I have been around but I do know how big a loss this is to her precious family. My thoughts and prayers are with her wonderful family.

My prayers to the Thurman and Garvey families. I am having surgery tomorrow so I will not be able to hug anyone and give you my condolences on your loss of your beloved Sandy. She was your second mom Shelley and Stephanie and I know you both truly loved her. Steve I am sure your heart is deeply hurting and words cannot begin to say or take your pain away.
