Stanley Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 8 to Apr. 10, 2012.
Stanley Glen Anderson, age 80, passed away April 6, 2012 in Riverton, Utah, surrounded by his adoring family. He was born May 4, 1931 in Ephraim, Utah to Adrian LeRoy and Alice Vione Nielson Anderson. He graduated with honors from Carbon High School in 1949. In 1950, Stan married LaRae Bendall in Castle Gate, Utah; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in 1951. Dad highly valued education. While raising a family of six, he attended and graduated from the University of Utah with a double major in Finance and Management.
Dad was our role model of hard work. He started out delivering newspapers as a young boy in Helper, Utah and ultimately retired as an executive at Kennecott Utah Copper after 41 years of service.
Dad was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many positions including bishop of his beloved Hunter 3rd Ward. After retiring, Mom and Dad served as full-time missionaries in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Service to others, integrity, and dependability defined him.
Dad's life centered around his family, wife LaRae, children: David (Carla), Shanna (Bob) Burnside, Christie (Bob) Northrup, Bobbie (Blaine) Raby, Brent (Debbie), and Randy (Tami), 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren with one on the way. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Bette and grandson Neal.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parkway Stake Center, 9849 South 2700 West, South Jordan. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to the LDS Church Missionary fund or the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.valleyviewfuneral.com.

Aunt LaRae and cousins,
Very sorry for your loss. I wish I could have been able to make it out for the funeral. Stan was a great guy and I always enjoyed visiting the Andersons. I love and miss you all.

Dear LaRae and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. From Grandma Gloria and you being best friends at Litton to your, _finally_, getting Dave and my mom to meet I couldn't have asked for entry into a better family! Friends are the family we choose and I'm so glad to have all of you as both! Stan's generosity and pride in all of his children are apparent in my memories and in that which he's imparted to each of you! Take care and much love, Amber, Larry and Gloria Rose

LaRae & Family... growing up in Helper wasn't easy. Stanley Anderson made it a little easier for me. He had a paper route and I sold papers on Hel[per main street. I was the youngest of the "paper boys" and got roughed up by the older boys. Stanley was always there provide a voice, "to leave the little guys alone". He and my sister Charmaine were friends.

I was going to say God Bless Stanley, but I don't think that is necessary--- I'm sure he will.

What a wonderful man! While his step began to slow a bit in the last few years, his heart and mind always seemed to be racing. I'm grateful for the wisdom he taught and for his example of dedication to the Lord and his wife and family. No question he continues anxiously engaged. What a blessing to us all.

Our prayers for comfort go to this wonderful family who were blessed to have such a great man for a husband and father. Christie is such a tribute to her dad.

We pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit to be with each of you. Our love,

Love, Shellie Starr

Dear Anderson Family,
I didn't know your husband and father, but I do know Shanna, Christie, Bobbie, and some of the grandchildren. If they are any reflection of their dad and grandpa, he was truly a great man! You're in my thoughts and prayers. May your wonderful memories give you comfort at this difficult time.

Sister Anderson and Family. When our family moved into the Hunter 3rd Ward, Bishop Anderson made it a point to take my son Tony under his wings. They were Home Teachers together for 2 years and during those years I watched my son blossom. Thank you Bishop. You will be greatly missed.

Shanna, My love and prayers go out to you. It will be a difficult time for you and your family. But know that you will be able to see him again, because of the belief that we share The Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Love, Janine (Kirby) Nichols

Sister Anderson and family-

Oh how we loved your dad, he welcomed us into the hunter 3rd ward with open arms and heart. We watched and learned from his example of how to treat people and love the Lord. We heard him ask more than once what would the Savior do?

I knew Stan at Kennecott, where we all recognized his wonderful sense of loyalty to friends, company and church. When he retired after 41 years, it was a sad day for us. May his family find peace in the knowledge that his life was one of honor. I am certain he is hearing the words "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
