Sue Y. Wong was born in Guangdong, China in October 2, 1922, and passed away on June 30, 2017. Her children surrounded her with their love, as she made her final journey to God at Nathan Adelson Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Sue married Leige F. H. Wong, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1948, where they raised their family.
Sue’s parents and sister, Jean Dong, predeceased her. Her brother, Paul Mah lives in Canada. Sue had four children—John (Pat), Connie, Shirley (Dan), and Dolly (Dave), 4 grandchildren (Tami, Melanie, Nichole, & Justin), and 5 great-grandchildren. Sue lived in South Dakota for 32 years. In 1979 she & Leige moved to Colorado Springs & then to Las Vegas in 1995, where as avid Catholics, they were members of Christ the King Catholic Community.
She loved gardening, & found great joy in watching her oranges and lemons grow from bud to fruit, and also loved eating out, and knitting and crocheting lovely crafts. Her family and her friends will remember Sue for her sweetness & toughness, friendliness, determination, and generosity. She’ll be missed by all who knew and loved her, and called her “Mama Sue.” She loved to share fortune cookies with friends. Her children will miss her wonderful cooking; especially her best ever steamed pork buns.
The Funeral Mass for Sue Wong will take place on Friday, 7/14/17 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Community, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89118. Please make any contributions to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
