Theodore "Ted" J. Jorgensen, Sr. 74, of Clay passed away on Wednesday at home. He was born and raised in Union Springs, NY. Ted graduated from Union Springs Central School, class of 1962 where he played football. The team was inducted into the Union Springs Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011, winning the State Championship in 1960. He continued his studies attending Mohawk Valley Community College. Ted was a proud US Veteran serving in the Navy. In the early 1970's he came back to Syracuse settling in Baldwinsville to raise his family. Ted was employed by Wegman's as a store manager at several locations for many years. Afterwards he worked in management for various retail stores. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1107 in Unions Springs and was President for many years of the Village Green Area Athletic Club in Baldwinsville. Ted is predeceased by his son, Robert W. in 2010, six sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Theodore "Butch" (Kimberly) Jorgensen, Jr. of Naples, Italy, Richard Jorgensen of Liverpool, two daughters, Christine Jorgensen Anguish of Liverpool, Kimberly (Jay) Custin of Collinsville, VA, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Roger (Rusty), Glenn (Sandy), James (Kai), John (Ida), three sisters, Marilyn Signor, Claudia (Ken) Rouse, Maxine (Bob) Martens and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31 Baldwinsville. Graveside services will be on Saturday at 10:00 am in North Syracuse Cemetery with military honors.
Contributions in Ted's memory can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Union Springs American Legion Post# 1107.
