Theodore Wolf Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 8, 2023.
Theodore "Ted" Wolf died Feb. 20, 2023, the result of unfortunate and tragic series of events. Ted was born Dec. 5, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo., the only child of Virgil and Julia Wolf. Those who knew Ted, knew that he was a man of few words. He had just lost the love of his life, Peg Wolf, on Dec. 11, 2022. While he may not have had a lot to say about his terrible loss, you could see the love, adoration, pain, and sorrow in his eyes all through her illness and up until the day she passed away. Words, not so much, but he had a way of grieving that suited him appropriately. Peg and Ted met while they both worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. They were married on Dec. 21, 1991, and he would let all who cared to listen know that it was this day he realized the enormity of his new family. Ted's first Christmas with his extended family was an eye-opener for sure. He referred to it as "organized chaos." It's Christmas when Ted would prepare his spaghetti. It was enjoyed by all, yet it never tasted the same two times in a row. Ted would readily admit that he wasn't the best cook in the house, but you didn't have to know him long to know that he was a talented handyman. Handyman is an understatement. Ted was a wood worker, a welder, gifted carpenter and could fix about anything. In his younger years he was a mechanic not only on his vehicles but also helped local race teams in the Kansas City area. And how did he absolutely love Kansas City! He enjoyed the delicious barbecue, was an avid Royals fan, especially when George Brett was playing. He loved the Chiefs, and we all know how much it would have made him happy to see them win the most recent Super Bowl. He loved the blues and would make time to see local bands perform. Ted also really enjoyed his time at home, too. He would always build a craft room for Peg, at every home they owned, so she would have her own space for hobbies. He loved to be around his birds and teach them to talk and interact with company. One thing most people may not know is that Ted knew how a computer worked before they were on every desktop in the world. He could troubleshoot and repair them before most people knew how to turn them on. Ted will be dearly missed, and yet knowing he and Peg are together again after a short time apart is comforting. Ted is survived by Tom Shannahan, Sue (Harry) Tate, Pam Shannahan, Rex (Maggie) Shannahan, Lyn Shannahan, Mona (Dave) Gilmore, Jackie Shannahan, and his favorite brother-in-law Scott (Mickey) Shannahan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ted's extended family would like to send their heartfelt appreciation to the Marion Police Department, who never gave up and did an amazing job of following the leads and keeping the family informed. All other local enforcement agencies who readily jumped in to help as well. To MediaQuest Outdoors for donating billboard space in and around Cedar Rapids while so many people were looking for him. And of course, all the countless volunteers who drove remote roads, flew drones and airplanes, printed and distributed flyers all while simply never giving up hope that he would be found. We truly appreciate each and every one of you. Please share a memory of Ted at www.murdochfuneralhome.com under obituaries.
