Thomas Doane Obituary
Born on April 25, 1966, he was the son of Thomas L. Doane and the late Pella Regan Cooling. Raised in Chatham, he attended the local schools and was a lifelong member of the community.
Following in his father's footsteps, Tod became a tile contractor, working independently and for his dad's tiling business.
Tod enjoyed downhill skiing, jet-skiing, going to the beach, spending time with his dogs, family and friends, and helping others with his "heart of gold." He was a son, husband, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and a friend to all.
Tod leaves behind his father, Tommy, and wife Linda; brother, Andrew Doane; sister, Kristen Doane; nephew, Matthew Doane; sister, Katy, and brother-in-law, Dan Vanderzwagg; aunt and uncle, Donna and David Carter; aunt, Joan Doane; former wife Denise; stepfathers, Bruce Gibson and Bill Cooling; and many other relatives.
Memorial visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local MSPCA organization or the Chatham Food Pantry, 625 Main Street, Chatham, MA 02633.

To the Doane Family,
I was deeply saddened to learn (belatedly) of Tod's passing. I came to know Tod four years ago. Each time I saw him he had a ready smile, a warm hello, and a story to share. I will really miss him. I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I went to school with Tod, and lived next door on Cedar Street for a while. What I remember about him was that he was nice to me. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

My family and I are sending our thoughts and prayers to all of those who knew Tod through the years. Now looking back at the many years ago when we were all " hanging out" together living in a small town gave us the opportunity to be friends with everyone, in many different ways!!
