Walter,
It was such a pleasure getting to know you. I truly enjoyed our time together. You have indelibly marked my life with your unassuming personality and wit. You fought Carla not to move here and then didn't want to leave.
Thank you, Carla, for wearing the pants.
Walter, you will be missed.

We are very saddened by the loss of Walter at such an early age. Words are inadequate when life is cut short such as this. Please accept our condolences to Carla and all of Walter's family and friends. We all were enriched by having known him.

I knew Walter for only a short time as his Sarasota neighbor, but always enjoyed our sidewalk talks and hearing his views on the events of the world. I'll miss that.

Walter. You had great foresight and lived with conviction your life as a public sector servant, besides having a very pleasant and open personality. It was a great pleasure to have met you and rely on you for support in our dealings with the US. I enjoyed our last conversation in the patio of the US Ambassador residency in Managua. It was always easy to talk to you openly and with a good sense of humor in between. We had our last laughs while I learned about your retirement plans. You will be missed.
