WESLEY BLAHA Obituary
Age 80, of Monroeville, passed away January 29, 2011 at Cedars Community Hospice. Beloved husband of the late Cindy (Curry) Delle Donne Blaha; loving father of Robert Blaha of Waterford, PA, Rebecca Blaha of Penn Hills, Susanna Blaha of Tarentum and the late Benjamin Blaha; proud and adoring grandfather of Shelly, Alaina, and Ashlyn; stepfather of Lara and Matt Delle Donne; brother of H. Dale (Susan) Blaha; nephew of Mercedes Gibbons and Rod Billy; uncle of many loved nieces and nephews. Wes retired as a Colonel and Chaplain from the US Air Force. He was a proud Korean War Veteran and member of the Reserve Officer's Association and Air Force Association. He was an Ordained minister for the United Methodist Church and was the current Pastor Emeritus for the Calvary United Methodist Church on the North Side. Wes was the former president of the Monroeville Chamber of Commerce and Life Member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He was also a board member of the Regional Asset District and member of the Monroeville Rotary Club, Monroeville Interfaith Ministerium, as well as numerous other community volunteer organizations. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. (MONROEVILLE/ PLUM CHAPEL) corner of Beatty Rd. & 48 North, Monroeville (412-856-4747). A service followed by a Presentation of Military Honors will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church on the North Side. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 911 Beech Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233 or Cedars Community Hospice, 4363 Northern Pike, Monroeville, PA 15146.

I heard from my mother about Wes's passing. I am very sorry. Our family has fond memories of his time as minister at Monroeville United Methodist church. Their youth group was especially important in my life and I remember the fellowship of his son Rob.

Such a gentleman, always very pleasant to talk to. I am glad I had the chance to know him, if only for a short time.

I went to Lakewood Methodist as a child. It was a difficult time for me, but Reverend Blaha and Lakewood Methodist were comforts during that time. Your dad was a good man, and I'm glad we had him at Lakewood. Sorry for your loss.

Wes was a supportive, wonderful person. I served as a member of the Board of Directors when he was the president of the Monroeville Chamber of Commerce. It was a pleasure to work with him. He was a terrific guy and had a glowing smile. He will be missed. I will always remember his heartfelt and, often humorous blessing, before every Chamber luncheon.
