William Ammon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2024.
William Thomas Ammon, known affectionately as Butch, passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 82 in Rochester, New York. He was born on September 15, 1941, in Rochester. Butch was a beloved member of his community, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Butch was a happy-go-lucky fellow who had a passion for golfing with his buddies. He adored his three daughters, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being the oldest of six children, he always held a special place in his family's heart.

In his early years, Butch attended Holy Apostles Primary School and later graduated from Aquinas High School, class of 1959. Following his education, he embarked on a successful career in auto car sales, working at various dealerships in the Rochester area and Central Auto Auction.

Outside of work, Butch enjoyed spending his free time pursuing his hobbies of golfing and bowling. He found joy in these activities and cherished the camaraderie they brought him.

Although Butch did not have any military associations, his dedication to his community and his country was evident in his everyday life. He approached every task with a sense of duty and commitment, traits that earned him the respect and admiration of those around him.

At this time, no services have been scheduled. However, a later date in Arizona will be determined for a gathering to honor Butch's life. The Newcomers funeral home in Rochester, NY, is assisting the family with cremation services.

Butch is survived by his significant other, Diane Bauman, and his daughters Joanne (Ammon) Vianos, Jeanne (Ammon) Kentch and Janette Ammon. Siblings: Daniel M Ammon (Rita), Joyce E. (Ammon) DiLorenzo (Mike Borstad), and James R. Ammon (Sandy). Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William T. Ammon, his mother, Genevieve D. Ammon, and his siblings Michael J. Ammon and Suzanne N. (Ammon) DiLorenzo.

Butch will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the community he touched.

To know Bill was to love him! He always had a smile and a positive attitude. I ran into him a few years ago and we had a nice chat in the parking lot! He worked for me at Central Auto Auction for several years. He definitely was one of the good ones! Loved seeing the pictures of his family in these memories.

Billy you will be greatly missed from the Notos. From the kids birthday parties you would always attend to working with you for years, going to Vegas with you and Diane, enjoying a doughnut and coffee in the morning. You will never be forgotten.
