William "Bill" Jeter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 27 to Oct. 28, 2022.
William "Bill" Fowler Jeter passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at his Sacramento, California residence while asleep.

Bill was born in Yuma, Arizona on July 14, 1937, to Laufman Everett and Eller Jeter. He spent his formative years in Hornbook, California just south of the Oregon border in the shadow of the Siskiyou mountains. He attended Yreka High School, was an undergraduate at Chico State University, and later received his master's degree in International Business Administration from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Before college, he served a couple of years in the US Army under the GI Bill.

After college, while working overseas in Belgium, Bill met Kerstin Knaust an interpreter at the Swedish Embassy, and they were soon married and eventually settled back in California and had a daughter Anna Jeter and a son William Knaust Jeter. The family lost Kerstin early in October 2001 after 34 years of marriage. Bill remained widowed until his passing.

Bill always had a vigor and passion for the great outdoors and over his lifetime pursued backpacking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skydiving, and flying lessons. He spent 27 years as a State Farm agent in Sacramento and enjoyed retirement for the past 20 years. He was a Boy Scout troop leader, taught Sunday School, and traveled to perform missionary work. He was a long-standing member of the Christ Community Church in Carmichael, California.

Bill is survived by his daughter, son, and grandson Joseph.
