William "Bill" Hart, 73, passed away in his home surrounded by love on June 16, 2025, in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Born on January 22, 1952, in Newton, New Jersey, Bill lived a full and vibrant life rooted in hard work, deep friendships, and a profound appreciation for the outdoors.

Raised in Sussex County, New Jersey, Bill began his career as a butcher, honing his craft at well-known supermarkets including Shop-Rite, Acme, and IGA. As his career progressed, he found fulfillment working in small family-owned markets throughout Sussex County. His dedication to his trade was matched by his warmth behind the bar-Bill also worked as a bartender and became locally known for his famous Bloody Marys.

From 1970 to 1976, Bill served honorably in the New Jersey Army National Guard with Company C of the 4th Battalion. He was discharged with the rank of Sergeant (E5), a testament to his commitment and leadership.

Bill's love for nature was a defining part of who he was. An avid outdoorsman throughout his life, he cherished time spent hunting and fishing with friends. Whether sharing stories over drinks or laughing around a campfire, Bill found joy in connection and camaraderie. His storytelling was legendary-vivid recollections of life's moments that brought people together and left lasting impressions.

In the fall of 2022, Bill relocated to Jacksonville, North Carolina. He quickly fell in love with the coastal landscape and often marveled at the beauty of the skies above. Sitting on the patio watching clouds drift by became one of his favorite pastimes. "I have never seen clouds like these before-this is amazing," he would say with wonder.

Affectionately known as "Hart Beat" by those closest to him, Bill had an extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went. He treated everyone with kindness and respect and wore his heart on his sleeve. His generosity of spirit touched many lives.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Lisa Hart; his son William "Liam" Hart and daughter-in-law Lisa; granddaughters Flora and Annesta; sister Denise Storms and her husband Floyd; and niece Melissa. He was predeceased by his first wife in 1999; mother Doris Cole; and father William L. Hart.

He loved to travel-Alaska and Vermont held special places in his heart-and he embraced every journey with curiosity and gratitude.

Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and heartfelt storytelling will live on through those who had the privilege to share in his life.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future in NJ. Details will be shared.
