William Pilgrim Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 20 to Dec. 22, 2009.
PILGRIM, William Guy Peacefully, in the arms of his LORD, Thursday, December 17th 2009, in his 86th year. At his home surrounded by his loving family, Guy will celebrate Christmas with Jesus. He will be missed by his loving wife, Josephine Rose, with whom he was looking forward to 60 years marriage this January 14th. Honouring his life are his six wonderful children and their families: Donald Bruce (Christine Holliday) of Ottawa: Helen Susan (Greg Johnson), Alanna, Aaron, Angela of Calgary; Mary Jane Wilson (Dan Zanette), Jared Wilson of Richmond; Penny Pauline Peterson, Shawn, Richard of Sudbury; William Jeffrey and Daniele, Jordan, Shelby of Montreal; Margaret Ruth (Lynn Cooke), Katie-Lynn, Kristyn, Chloe of Stittsville. Proud great-grandfather of Ethan. Guy was born in Carbonear, Newfoundland in 1923. He is survived by his sister Florizel Jennings (Bond), Gary, Darrel, Allan, Sharon of Cornerbrook; and his brothers Earnest of Cornerbrook; David, Dwane of Cornerbrook; George, Anthony, Janet, Geraldine of Alberta. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Violet and siblings Harry (Henry), Ellis, Charles, Minnie and Lillian. While serving in the Merchant Navy during WWII, he received a Purple Heart. My husband was a faithful, loyal and hard working provider. He was a generous and big hearted man who was always there to help others. He had an entertaining sense of humour that kept people laughing. Although I miss you so much now, I am looking forward to joining him once again in Heaven. I love you sweetheart, Little Jo. Our father was a great example of hard work and perseverance. He instilled in each of us a desire to be the best we can be in all that we do. We also have his entertaining humour and tenacious spirit. He lives on through us and we will continue to strive for that excellence that we admired in him and will make him proud as we were so proud of him. As leader of our family we look forward to meeting him again in Heaven as he awaits each one of us us. We love you Dad very much. Till we meet again, you're loving kids and grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Wednesday December 23 at Arlington Woods Free Methodist Church (225 McClellan Rd., Nepean) from 10:30 am until the time of the funeral service in the church sanctuary at 12:30. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers we would ask you to remember The Ottawa Mission and your local Food Banks. As a child, Dad always said "he saw more meal times than meals" and had a wish that all children would have meals every mealtime.

Dad,
Distance may have kept us apart, but you always knew you were in my heart. Thank you dad for instilling in me the ability and desire to work hard everyday, spread laughter and joy to those around me and finding the brighter side in situations. I love you dad and someday, not even distance will keep us apart.

Mom,
You were blessed with a wonderful partner in life. Treasure that forever.

All my love,

Penny
