My boyfriend and I just found out this very sad news earlier today. We met Bill in March 2022 and became rather close pretty quickly as this is when he hired and taught John the tricks of the irrigation trade. We realize now that Bill had been so adamant and persistent that John learn the trade and work as much possible not just for our baby that was on the way (born at the end of April 2022) but because he knew it wasn't likely he would make it to the next spring. I didn't know him very long and unfortunately did not get to know him like John gratefully had but he was very kind and good to me. We shared quite a few nights after they were done working having some sort of take out, sharing quite a few laughs, and surprisingly one of Bill's favorites was to watch Johnny play this video game called Red Dead Redemption 2 (based in the old West), he really got a kick out of it. Bill became apart of our lives by chance really, at exactly the right time. We were starting a family, John was looking for work and had no idea that Bill would go on to teach him more than just what they did for work. He shared his knowledge, achievements, trials and tribulations, great things he had done, the errors of where he had gone wrong, his feelings on a lot of things, wisdom from his years, and absolutely his thoughts when he felt John was doing things wrong. Bill worked him and was a great Boss. Laughed and argued like the stubborn and sometimes grouchy friend that he was, but above all he loved my John and I know tonight his heart broke for Bill Sharpe, the man who treated him like a son.
