William TRUAX Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald on Feb. 18, 2012.
TRUAX, William (Bill) David
Born April 18, 1941 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, died February 10, 2012 in Victoria, BC. As a young man he worked for GM in Montreal and later lived in Calgary for many years where he worked for Gulf Oil. In Victoria he worked for the Provincial Government. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hiking and hunting and was on the Ski Patrol in the Rockies. He also took a great interest in photography and traveling in North America in a motor home, which gave him the opportunity to take great photographs. His passion in life was fly fishing and he made his own flies. He fished the Bow River in Alberta and many lakes in BC's interior. His largest rainbow trout was 16.6 ounces. He leaves his wife, June and sister Sandra (Don) Johnston in Richmond, Quebec and is lovingly remembered by extended family. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society. Condolences can be made on-line at www.sandsfuneral.com (Victoria). Sands of Victoria. Telephone: 1-250-388-5155.

June we are so sorry for your loss. We will remember Bill fondly fishing on Forest Lake. Our nick name for him was( big fish Bill) and he sure did get the big ones and you did well yourself!! Hope you are doing well. Our sincerest sympathys to you and your family. I will use the fly he gave me with pride and if I catch the big one he will be smiling down at me I.m sure.

RIP Bill, we just learned of Bill's passing upon our return from winter travels. Will certainly miss the conversations about inept politicians, travel destinations and the big fish waiting out there. Our sincerest sympathy to June and Bill's family.

Very sorry to hear of Bill's passing.
I worked with Bill in Calgary and remember the fishing stories he would tell on Monday mornings, with a bright smile on his face and excitement in his eyes.
My sincere sympathy to Bill's family.
May God bless you in this time of sorrow.

Goodbye to Bill. We were friends in Calgary, often sharing bike rides along the Bow River. Bill even gave me fly rod casting lessons. We lost contact with each other over the years, but I trust he continued to enjoy the great outdoors in his retirement.
