William "Tuck" Osborne Tucker III

William Osborne "Tuck" Tucker III, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020. Tuck was born on August 20, 1961, in Lynchburg, to William Osborne Tucker Jr. and Gay Coffey Tucker.

He was a graduate of Virginia Episcopal School and Virginia Commonwealth University where he majored in Art. His talent as an artist led him to pursue a career as an animation artist in Los Angeles, California, where he worked on some of the best cartoon shows of two decades: The Simpsons, Rugrats, The Little Mermaid, Hey Arnold!, Ren and Stimpy, Fairly Odd Parents, Family Guy, and Spongebob Squarepants, for which he won an Annie Award.

Following the death of his wife, Connie, Tuck returned to Virginia where he taught briefly at Longwood University before accepting a position as Associate Adjunct Professor of Studio Art at Sweet Briar College.

In addition to his parents, Tuck is survived by his wife, Anne G. Coates; his daughter, Gina D. Tucker; a brother, Bailey D. Tucker (Susan); a niece, Mallory Tucker; and a nephew, Will Tucker. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Tuck's life was enriched by a multitude of two and four-footed companions--his horse Jameson, dogs Tucker, Phoebe, Snookie and Poppy and many turkeys and quail he hatched and turned loose on unsuspecting farmers. A pet wood duck, Comet, was the bird love of his life.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution might consider Virginia Episcopal School, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the fund for the hounds of Bedford County Hunt Club.

Following Tuck's wishes, services will be private.

My deepest sympathy to the family and close friends of Tuck Tucker. I had the privilege of reading stories from friends of Tuck about their funny and touching interactions with him, at an outdoor dedication held by Bedford County Hunt. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
