Mrs S. Alton
Woodthorpe Mrs Selina Dorothy Alton, of Bridle Road, Woodthorpe, Mastin Moor, has died at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, aged 99.
Born at Seymour Cottages, Seymour, Woodthorpe and a lifelong resident of the area, she worked "in service in Leeds", then brought up her family and became a retailer between 1953 and 1970 until retirement.
Mrs Alton was an ardent and loyal
royalist, she had a great knowledge of the royal family. Her interests included watching cricket, racing and snooker, the essential "Countdown" and doing
crosswords and quizwords in the daily newspapers.
The widow of Cyril, she leaves sons Frank and Stewart, grandchildren Eleanor, Seth, Luke and Leonie and great-grandchildren Jack and Kate.
The service is due to take place at Chesterfield Crematorium on Monday, April 30, at 12.10pm.
