Yukio Okamura Obituary

OKAMURA _ Yukio "Duke" was born on September 21, 1929 in Strawberry Hill (Delta), B.C. He passed away peacefully on November 8, 2006 surrounded by his family. Dad spent most of his life in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He graduated from the University of Manitoba and spent over 30 years employed as a mechanical engineer with Manitoba Hydro. Dad and Mom were married and raised their family in Winnipeg, devoting their lives to their children. Upon retirement, Dad and Mom moved to Vancouver in 1995. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his wife Jean Sachiko; children Jeff (Susan), Wayne (Annette), Janice (Scott), Dean and Derek (Joyce); 8 grandchildren; brothers Masayoshi, Yoshiyuki and Tatsuo; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Kimiye and Chiyeko. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of the VGH dialysis unit and PCU. A funeral service will be held on November 14 at 1:00PM at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St., Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations to the VGH Foundation Renal Program Development Fund would be greatly appreciated.
