Yves was a great guy. I met him during my years at BGSU and only ever spoke with him several times; although he was a "hockey legend," he treated everyone with respect and kindness.
I lost my first husband when he was young, so I know firsthand that one can survive deep loss and sorrow. Robert Frost once wrote,
"Happiness makes up in height for what it lacks in length." I truly believe this. I will pray that those who loved him will find peace and joy again. Yves life was a wonderful gift.

To the Pelland Family:
My deepest heartfelt sympathy for your family's untimely loss. I played hockey with Yves for 3 Yrs. at BGSU. Yves always projected a humorous and witty zest for life; and was one of the best penalty-killers that I have skated with.

Dear Katia and Klara,
My name is Denny Camp (Camper), I live in Norwalk Ohio. I went to BG with Yves and lived with he, Tom Olsen and John Schlacter (Tamps). I was very saddened by the news of Yves passing. As many have said before me, Yves was a very special person. As I read the notes here today it brings back many great memeories of our youth. I am sorry for your loss. My family and I will keep you in our prayers.

Dear Katia and Klara;

Teri and I were terribly saddened to hear of Yves'passing. We had the good fortune to attend Bowling Green at the same time as Yves and enjoy some wonderful times together. Yves was a hockey legend at BG who played the game with great passion and flare but what stuck with me was his persistence off the ice as well, where he achieved great academic success despite the obstacle of learning a new language. When you think of "great guys", Yves is at the top of the list. #26 in your program- #1 in our hearts.

TO the Pelland family,
I am life long resident of Bowling Green, and offer to you my deepest condolences for your loss. Sadly my only knowledge of Yeves is from his time playing hockey as a Falcon, and some contact that stemmed from Falcon Club that long ago. He was hero among local youth hockey players, myself included. he clearly lived his life as he played the game, all hart at 100%.
God Bless each of you in this dificult, painful time.

Katia, Klara & the Pelland Family,

I am very saddened at the news of the passing of Yves. When I arrived at BG, I did not know or understand what hockey was all about. Watching Yves play the game with the grace and joy that only he possesed, inspired in me a love of the game that I carry to this day. He will never be forgotten for each time I hear the Naional Anthem, in my heart it starts "Go Yves!". My prayers and best wishes to all of you.

My deepest sympathies for the untimely loss of Yves. I was a student at Bowling Green when Yves was on the hockey team. I remember fondly the the tradition of cheering "Let's Go Yveeeeees!" just before the singing of the national anthem. He played with a lot of intensity whenever he hit the ice and always had a smile off it.

Quelle triste nouvelle. Toutes nos condoléances.

Heartfelt sympathy to the family of Yves Pelland. My name is Bill Kohagen and I was the school mascot at BGSU in 1978-79 when Yves was on the Falcon hockey team. Yves was a huge favorite among the rabid fans of BG hockey, as evidenced by the way they would always call out his name when he hit the ice. His enthusiasm and hustle will always be remembered, just as I will also remember how he always "tweaked my beak" for good luck before every game. On behalf of all Falcon hockey fans, we grieve for your loss as we fondly remember Yves.

Dear Serge and Family,

I was saddened to hear of Yves' untimely passing. Reflecting on this news brought back warm memories of him as a youth in and around Riverside Park. Swim meets on Wednesday nights, touch football games in the school yard and all of those other fond memories of those times so many years ago. Reading the tributes to him on these pages, indicate that he was in later life what I remember him as a youth - a really great guy to all knew him. May he rest in peace.

Dear Katia & Karla - I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Yves. My father was the equipment manager at BGSU so I grew up knowing a lot of hockey players. Although I was only 2 years old when Yves begain his career at BGSU I'll never forget over his 4 years the way the announcer would say his name. He'd stretch out his first name and say his whole name with such excitement. Over the years as I got to know him he was such a wonderful person. He truly will be missed and will forever be a Falcon.

Katia, Klara & the Pelland Family, please accept our most profound condolences. Yves was a treasured confidant and teammate, a decent and generous gentleman. He made the commonplace memorable and turned the insurmountable into the doable. I pray that his optimism and courage will stay with you - our children would be better for having known him longer. God Bless You.

Dear Katia,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of Yves. My wife and I are shocked and devastated at losing a former BG Falcon, classmate and friend at such a young age. His good character and exemplary work ethic was evident both on and off the ice. I truly enjoyed playing hockey with Yves for two years at BG and it was always great to see him at BG alumni gatherings. May his memory be eternal.
Sincerely,

Dear katia and Klara:
My deepest sympathy on your loss. During our days at BGSU Yves was a very close teammate and freind. We came to BG the same year and graduated together 4 years later. We were teammates for 4 years. I have always had so much respect for Yves. Coming to Bowling Green, not speaking English and graduating on time in four years. What an accomplishment!
My prayers are with you. God bless you.

Dear Katia and Klara:
My name is Brian Celentano, I am a friend of Yves from his days at Bowling Green. My thoughts and prayers are with you both at this time. Although I did not play at the same time as Yves, I had the chance to know him through the re-union type events that we both attended over the years. We played golf together and had a few drinks together and had many laughs. That is how I will always remember Yves, with a smile on his face and an arm over somebody's shoulder.
Sincerely,

Dear Katia and Klara,
With great sadness Don and I shared with our family that Yves passed away suddenly. Don has been friends with Yves since Bowling Green. Yet, over the past 8 years Yves, Katia, Don and I have traveled together. Our last very memorable trip was to Turning Stone in NY in 2006,and the one before that was a wonderful week spent together in Napa in 2005. Yves will be sadly missed. Our children Allyson and Donald loved Yves as well. Our parents and siblings all knew Yves and are very saddened. All our love, Don and Elena

Dear Katia and Klara:

My name is Ken Stefanov and my wife is Kathy Roberts. We reside outside of Cleveland, OH where Yves had many friends. Yves and I were college friends at Bowling Green and we remained friends after college. Even though we hadn't seen each other in the last several years, I talked to Yves several months ago and as usual we had some good laughs. With Yves's passing, I have lost a part of my youth as well. We will always remember him as a kind man, with a sense of playful mischief, which is why people were drawn to him. God Bless you both. We are crushed by your loss.

Dear Pelland Family,
Even though we never met your family, I wanted to let you know that Yves was a great friend for all of his years in Bowling Green. Our fondest memory was our trip with the boys to Montreal to pick up Yves and take him with us to see BG win the National Hockey Championship in Lake Placid. He even took us to a great French resturaunt called the "Che Paris" for lunch. Boy did he fool us! We have many more great memories of Yves and will cherish them always. We are extremely sorry for your huge loss.
