BETTY STEVENSON
LIMA — Betty J. Stevenson, age 91, died peacefully at 5:20 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
Betty was born August 7, 1924 in Allen County to Pansy and Edmund Keeling who proceeded her in death. On March 16, 1946 she married Byron C. Stevenson who passed away February 27, 2008.
Survivors include a son, Larry (Pamela) Stevenson of Belle Glade, Florida, two daughters, Judith (William) Shafer and Debra Stevenson (Terri Morris) of Lima, Ohio. Four grandchildren, Todd (Jennifer) Geren of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Brian Geren of St. Marys, Ohio, Christy (Andy) Rabe of Columbus, Ohio and Eric (Heather) Stevenson of Belle Glade, Florida; 13 great-grandchildren, Arielle, Taylor, Ciann, Ian and Brianna Geren, Kaitlyn, Mallory, Lauren, Leah, Eva and Thomas Rabe, Molly and E. J.Stevenson; two stepgrandchildren, Paul (Dawn) Shafer and Becky (David) Smith; 2 stepgreat-grandchildren, Jacob and Kylie Shafer.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Richard Jones, brother, William Keeling and grandson Chad Stevenson.
Betty Was a 1942 graduate of Cridersville High School and a member of Westminster United Church of Christ. Betty worked at Davison Enamel and Lima Ordnance Deport during WWII. After the war, she was a medical typist for Drs. Edwards & Biggs. Her career then took her to Lima Memorial Hospital where she was a medical transcriptionist for Dr. W.T. Collins. After her retirement from Lima Memorial Hospital, she did medical transcription in her home for Dr. Richard Capone. She and her husband enjoyed many years of camping and fishing with friends and family. They enjoyed many trips to Florida to visit her grandson and his family.
Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Her grandson, Rev. Eric Stevenson will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster United Church of Christ, Shawnee Manor, or St. Rita's Hospice.
