HELEN COZAD
KENTON — Helen Louise Purdy Cozad, 91, of Kenton, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at The Heritage Manor in Findlay.
She was born in Hardin County on February 14, 1925 to the late Vern and Alberta (Chamberlain) Woodruff. She married William Purdy and he preceded her in death in 1956. She then married Franklin Cozad in 1975 and he also preceded her in death in 2003.
Helen had worked at the Clay Nursing Home in Dunkirk and for Union Tech in Kenton for 27 years, where she was the secretary of the Local Lodge 2117 of the Union; a member of the United Tech Retirement Club and the Labor Council.
Survivors include four sons, Michael (Brenda) Purdy of Dunkirk; Ronald (Janet) Purdy of Findlay; Thomas (Sharon) Purdy of Dola and Robert (Paula) Purdy of Dunkirk; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Vern Woodruff of Dunkirk; and three sisters, Mildred Owings of Dola; Velma Lamb of Lima and Janet Sponsler of Kenton.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul Purdy; three grandsons, Brian Heath; Kevin Thomas and Jason Thomas Purdy; five brothers, Paul; Raymond; John; Harold and Robert Woodruff and four sisters, Dorothy Woodruff; Lois Fry; Pauline Wileke and Edna Hiller.
A graveside service will be held in her memory on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Dunkirk Cemetery with Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating.
No visitation will be held.
Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice in her memory and online condolences can be sent to the family via stoutcrates.com.
