MOUNT VERNON -- Karen S. McClure, age 82, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born on May 7, 1940, in Lima, Ohio the daughter of Chester and Helen (Bosch) Gast. Karen graduated from Lima Shawnee High School and worked at GR Smith in Mount Vernon. Karen was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.
She is survived by her children; Jackie (Ron) Green of Mount Vernon, Jody (Rick) Goetzman of Mount Vernon, Monica (Mike) Hunnicut of Mount Vernon, Raelene (Joe) Meyer of Westerville and Michael (Jill) McClure of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Ryan Goetzman, Bradley (Molly) Fenton, Austin (Chelsea) Goetzman, Katelyn (Tyler McCann) Goetzman, Kacie Goetzman, Brittany (Matt) Peck, Brett Hunnicut, Chelsea Hunnicut, Emma Meyer, Audrey Meyer, Mackenzie McClure, Abbey McClure and Joshua (Hallie Clark) McClure; great grandchildren, Owen Peck, Kaylin Peck, Bronson Hunnicut, Cooper Hunnicut, Mila Hunnicut, Logan Hunnicut, Noah Shannon, Dakota Shannon, Kyleigh Shannon, and Amelia Mills; special family friends, Jeff Combs and Akira Yoshimura; a brother, Rodney (Koneta) Gast of Huntington, West Virginia; a sister, Linda (Dennis) Martz-Traynor of Fort Jennings, Ohio.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Raymond E. McClure and a brother, Chester Gast.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Mr. Roger Marra will be officiating.
