GLANDORF -- Oscar C. Burgei was born on January 8, 1933, in Cloverdale, and was the son of the late Charles & Veronica (Stratker) Burgei. Oscar died Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Meadows of Ottawa. On July 12, 1958, Oscar married Betty A. Kleman in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf. They were married 65 years.
He is survived by five children: Ronald (Cathy Berrington) Burgei of Glandorf, Gerald (Jeana Rieman) Burgei of Delphos, Debra (Kirk) Griffith of Lima, Allan (Suzanne Limanowski) Burgei of Cincinnati, and William (Jill Morman) Burgei of Rockwood, MI; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Rosemary (Bruce) Hume of Indianapolis and Audrey Cornelius of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Oscar was the last surviving member of his family. Deceased siblings include: Cletus (Marietta) Burgei, Clo (Ray) Knippen, Rita (Oscar) Wannemacher, John (Mildred) Burgei, Robert (Agnes) Burgei, Vincent (Mary Lou) Burgei, Ann (Eugene) Reindel, and Sister Ermalinda C.P.P.S; 3 brothers-in-law: Robert Kleman, Karl Kleman and Lance Cornelius
Oscar was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, where he was a parish councilman and reader. He was a US Army Veteran and life member of the Ottawa K of C, Ottawa Eagles and Ottawa American Legion.
Oscar was a retired pipefitter for Ford Lima Engine Plant. Past work included: Lima Tank Plant, and Parts Mgr. at El Par Motor Sales (Lima) & Harshman Motor (Gallup, NM). He also owned and operated J-B Radiator for decades.
Oscar enjoyed gardening & repairing any and all things. He was a fan of the University of Michigan and OG Titans. Oscar & Betty wintered in Florida for many years.
Funeral Mass will begin 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. There will be a scripture service Monday at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, Putnam County Council on Aging, Putnam County Homecare & Hospice, or a charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be expressed at www.lovefuneralhome.com.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our family knew Oscar from El-Par Motor Sales. Him and our dad, Dan Crawford, worked in the parts department together. Oscar was a great man. He will be greatly missed. May God be with all your families at this time. May Oscar RIP.
