Bernard Flynn Obituary
AGE: 92 • New Rochelle
Bernard F. Flynn a resident of New Rochelle passed away on Thursday January 15, 2015. He was 92 years old. He was born in Somerville Massachusetts on October 1, 1922 and was the son of Joseph and Adeline Flynn. Bernie was a 1944 graduate of King's Point and was recently awarded a Meritorious Service Award at his 70th Reunion. He also served in WWII as a Merchant Mariner later joining the U.S. Navy. He was an active member of the Scarsdale's American Legion and regularly participated in local events and spoke at elementary schools to promote awareness of the involvement the Merchant Marines had in WW11. Bernie was predeceased by both his first and second wives Lillian Moore Flynn and Gertrude Doonan Flynn and his daughter Mary Ellen Flynn. He is survived by his seven children Kathleen Cronin (Eugene), Bernard Jr. (Gail), Richard (Susan), William (Mary), James (Laura), Theresa Moody (Robert) and Joanne Connell (Thomas), 21 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and was expecting his 11 Great Grandchild shortly. He was also predeceased by his three brothers. Visiting will be on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Name of Jesus Church. Interment to follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. Donations can be made to the Holy Name of Jesus Church, 70 Petersville Rd., New Rochelle, NY 10801
