O'Keefe, Daniel J.

Daniel "Chubby" O'Keefe (81) passed away on November 29, 2013 with his family at his side. A longtime resident of Rye, NY and Surfside Beach, SC, born July 7, 1932, the youngest child of Dennis and Marie White O'Keefe, predeceased by John, Bob, Bill and Barbara Pumphrey, survived by Catherine Garwick, Richard and Donald. He was a graduate of Harrison High and accomplished football player at Stetson University in DeLand, FL. Retired Director of Trade Relations at Coca Cola Bottling Co. of NY. He was a life member of the Old Guard Association, Third US Infantry of Arlington, VA and a member of The American Legion Post 178 of Murrell's Inlet, SC. Chubby was an expert Bag Piper, an avid golfer, he loved playing football at his home in Rye with his extended family and horseback riding in Montana in his later years.

Devoted husband of Joan (Kirby), his wife of 57 years, loving father of Dennis (Angela) of Rye, NY, Suzanne Hammer (Paul) of Norwalk CT, Joe O'Keefe of NY, NY, Katie O'Keefe of Palm Coast, FL and "Poppi" to Paul, Kathryn, Lars, John and Anna. Beloved "Uncle Chubby" to many nieces, nephews and countless adopted family members, he will always be lovingly remembered for his devotion to family, his faith and his love for his country.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Graham Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at The Church of the Resurrection, Rye, NY at 10:00 AM.
