David Winters Obituary
David G. Winters of Shenorock, NY passed away suddenly on December 17, 2015 at the age of 84. He was born on May 27th, 1931 in Johnson City, NY, to Louis and Ann (Yarros) Winters. David served proudly for his country, in the US Army. He received a Bachelor's degree from St. Michael's College in Canada and continued at Niagara University where he completed his Master's degree in Education. David Married the love of his life Kathleen (Daly) Winters on July 6, 1963 in Peekskill, NY. She predeceased him in 2007. Mr. Winters followed his passion in Education as teacher and was employed at the Cooper Beach Middle School in Shrub Oak, NY, until retirement in 1988. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Somers, NY. For many years, after retirement and only Mondays, David would head out on his weekly trip to the Yonkers Raceway Casino. Just something that had to be done! David was an avid gardener, bowler, fisherman and enjoyed rooting on his NY Mets and Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Team. But most of all will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and friends.
He is survived by his four loving children Debbie Cooper and her husband Gordon of Scotia, NY, Theresa Rees and her husband Steven of Somers, NY, Louis Winters and his wife Cheryl of Locust Grove, GA, and Cindy Esposito and her husband Michael of Somers, NY. David Cherished eight grandchildren Kayla, Haley, Kirsten, Taylor, Meghan, Emily, Sarah, and David. He is also survived by his sister, Louise Latino, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Dorothy Everett, and two brothers William Winters, Robert Winters and by his wife Kathleen in 2007.
A Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate David's life will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2015 at St. Joseph's Church in Somers, NY at 10am. Interment to follow at Ivandale Cemetery in Somers, NY. Visiting will be held on Monday December 21, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm at The Cargain Funeral Homes, 418 US Route 6, Mahopac, NY, 10541 (845)-628-5655. He will be Greatly Missed.
